"The CME has just raised its margin requirement on silver again, bringing maintenance margins up from $6,500 to $7,250, after hiking it less than a week ago for the first time and preventing silver from surpassing $30."

Which is a growing market due to the tech explosions in T.V, mp3, Ipad, and all that fun stuff.copper does not have the electrical conducting & reflective properties of silver. only very expensive metals like platinum & palladium has them. That said SILVER all the way!

Its hard to feel confident when there is so much corruption...but sure, silver is backing down and filling right now, but by this summer I bet it will be 35/oz...(I think) Slv is nearly all unbacked paper- wouldnt go near it since JPM is the custodian. My guess is a short squeeze/devaluing currencies will force physical up for a couple of years. For me, I just dont have confidence in any currency right now...Where else would you stash your wealth?

they are shorting so much to keep the price supressed - and that the tax payer will bail out any losses.these guys are so stupid. limiting positions would only make the markets less efficient. it would produce worse liquidity and greater price swings with worse spreads. complete crap and they should know it. these guys are a disgrace. regardless of who holds what eventually market forces will play out no matter how large ur holdings.

if shorts were settled with real commodities, and not cash, the markets would go to their natural spreads, and natural prices.
the allowance of cash settlement for shorts, while convenient, is what makes for large speculation.
a market should exist only for those that deal in what the market is offering. if you dont mine or sell gold, and cant deliver if you short it - why the hell are you allowed to do so - thats the problem in my opinion.

So many videos on precious metals are mostly emotion, as an engineer with 35 years experience in primarily electronics but much research in metals I felt I could contribute important information the investing world needs to know but does not! When ten friends selected at random all told me they assumed there was about 50 times MORE silver in the world than gold based on the price differential! When the answer is there is 5 to 10 times MORE gold than silver! Very few apparentlyknow this! This and much more needs to be known by all investors!

CORRECTION: There is about 5 to 10 times more gold for investors to buy than silver. This includes bullion coins and bars. There is more above ground silver. The majority of it is not in bullion form (i.e. sterling candlestick holders etc. )  I know many reclaim silver used in jewelry but silver used in industry is another matter. I'd be interested to look at companies who do industry silver if any have Web sites.Photography used to be a major source of silver but with digital photography that market is almost gone.I've seen estimates of reclaiming silver from trash dumps using today's technology and they've been $10K to $20K an ounce. Pretty much a hand operation. For now I'll go with the many who say we're running out. There is a silver reclamation industry, they are refineries and even private individuals, I have a friend who refines himself in mass, when he has enough he has it further refined. People who develop film will save the silver halide crystals and have them refined. I was there in Shanghai during the summer, and most banks were selling gold and silver bullion in their glass show cases.  Bank of China has been actively promoting gold and silver products for years. I am now back in Asia and noticed that they have changed their marketing program slightly for gold and silver products. Silver & Gold Pandas can be purchased once again by special order but to my knowledge can no longer be purchased on-site at the bank. Prices for Silver Pandas have increased from about 160RMB the first time I lived in China to now about 240 - 270 RMB per coin. The price varies by dealer. One thing is for certain, demand is sure there. Prices will only increase. We are just getting started in the greatest bull run for precious metals in history!



If China could do something about the outrageous level of counterfeitting it would increase confidence in purchasing these items. I love Pandas more than any other coin and I'm virtually certain I dont own any fakes, but I just wouldnt be able to bring myself to buy those bars from a 3rd party.I listened to Robert Kiyosaki's advice on silver: "I believe this is the biggest investment anyone can make in the next 100yrs" I did my research and found an opportunity that has changed my life in 12 months.

I personally think $60 is conservative, as when the paper silver guys find there is no silver behind there paper, they will sell and buy real silver. It is looking more and more likely there is less silver in the world than previously thought and silver is used in many industries, so it is also a consumed metal. I think $100 per oz within the year.

With the domestic bullion market reeling under the shortage of gold and silver, the Ministry of Commerce and Supplies has decided to resume the import of gold and silver within a week.
The ministry is holding a meeting with gold traders and dealers to discuss the modalities and other issues before finally allowing the guidelines sent by the Nepal Rastra Bank to be implemented.
The Nepal Rastra Bank had submitted the draft of the guidelines to the ministry, with some changes in the previous provision that allowed commercial banks to import 10 kilograms of gold per day on a rotation basis.
The domestic market faced a shortage of the both metals owing to the delay by the ministry in finalizing the guidelines, though the import ban was lifted by the government some weeks ago.
Currently, the demand for gold in the domestic market stands at 35 kilograms per day and that for silver at 200 kilograms per day.
According to gold traders, the demand for gold was being addressed partially by the gold illegally imported from India. But in the case of silver the situation is the worst, they said.

Im hoping it does go to 30:1, its made a good year end high which is a good sign & certainly the investment demand is increasing as the word spreads. I managed to get hold of four series 1 lunar kilos in January 2008 at £250 each, they would easily sell for £750- £800 each now, im thinking this time next year they will be a £1000 each. Silvers up 75% in 2010 compared to golds 25%. Id prefer silver as its cheap as chips still & anyone can start investing with around $35.

Thing is is that if i found a new age (within 10 year pop can, and tinfoil that looks that clear, im going to ask myself,,, what is this new stuff doing so deep? I'd dig alot deeper. Another good idea might be to bury the silver near a gas/water main / pipe this way when the govt goes door to door trying to steal your silver to fun the banks takeover they will hit your gas/water/electric main ^^ and get the shock of a lifetime.

International gold prices rallied to record highs on Friday, with spot prices nearing US$1300 an ounce. China's gold prices followed the trend and continued to climb. But consumer enthusiasm hasn't been affected.
It's China's traditional gold rush. The peak season for gold sales coincides with the two national holidays.

Impacted by a weaker US dollar and holiday consumption, international gold prices hit record highs.
In China,the price of pure gold exceeded 340 yuan per gram (?). But consumer enthusiasm is just as high as the gold prices. One resident said "For us, the price is very high. But we need to buy gold now since the price continues to increase." Consumers have flooded into gold shops, to find their perfect accessory.

Liu Ru, Sales Manager of Gold Shop said "Chinese people share a concept. That is to buy gold when the price is climbing. Since now it is holiday, many customers buy gold accessories as presents for relatives and friends. And also it is wedding season, increasing gold demand."

Silver prices have also soared, and even reached a 30-year high... making investments in the grey metal more attractive than ever. Analysts say the continuous decline of the US dollar has stimulated investors to choose safe
haven products such as gold. And with high consumption and investment demand, gold prices will continue to rise in coming days.

China encouraging citizens to buy Silver and Gold

Today everybody including the increasing number of middle class in Asia , China and India in particular are boosting the demand for physical gold and silver bullion ingots.The gold rush, which in recent days has brought the metal several times to update the historical record does not seem to have discouraged sales to India, where jewelry, ingots and coins are among the most popular traditional gifts to celebrate Diwali. The Hindu festival of lights, was celebrated recently, a thermometer of the gold market , because it represents the peak of the gold sales in a country that is the first consumer in the world of Gold. And the signs so far are very positive, not only by retailers of jewelry, but also by banks, which reported a boom in purchases of gold also in the form decidedly less traditional ETFs.
The overall investment in gold in the second quarter of 2010 increased by 118% to share $ 40 billion, of which about half is represented by ETFs (investment funds linked to the performance of the listing). But it is not only the question of "paper gold" to grow. In recent months, reflecting the uncertainty that still prevails in the markets, there is a growing demand for physical gold for investment. Bullion and gold coins of various sizes to keep in a safe haven for investment is the maximum protection from the so-called "counterparty risk" (as the possible bankruptcy of the company that sells ETF). The local representative in India of the World Gold Council, Ajay Mitra, a few days ago said he was convinced that the week of the festival, between October 31 and November 6, gold purchases in India could have increased to 40% compared to 56 tonnes a year ago and that the favorable monsoon, which brought greater prosperity in the country, argues in favor of high consumption in December, wedding season. Signals that the second Mitra strengthen the hypothesis that India could beat all records of import of gold in 2010: about 800 tonnes, against 539 in 2009 and the record high of 770 set in 2007.

Personally, I will continue purchasing physical silver until we reach $200/oz...I'll sit on the side lines until we reach $550-$595 before I sell off a portion of my invest only to turn around and LOAD UP on supplies...food,guns,bullets.more bullets and water,with a few more boxes of bullets.



being a natural hygienist i can back dots up on this..if you eat what nature intended us to eat then we would always have a akaline body. my studies show that we are really frugivores , fruit being our main source of food. an akaline diet with solve most if not all health problems , so get some pawpaws, melons ,avacadoe,pineapples, ets etc and start eating your way back to health. all health problems start with a acidic blood. just look at teeth , akaline saliva wont let tooth decay grow In it for a "quick buck"? it's nearing $31 atm and I hope there is a drop in price to below $30 so I can buy some. At the $6000k a (troy) ounce price point, I would be able to pay off my debts with a few silver ounces!!!
However I feel that there are a few things that I think will prevent it from going to 6k:
silver is an industrial metal, but what would happen if industry is reduced (solar flare in 2012 according to NASA, oil prices way up ~ peak oil)?

the rothschilds & an associated international clan are using US & NATO forces as their private army. they can put pressure on any govt to do what they want. including the confiscation or hefty taxes on gold. I think the chinese & russians will counter this effectively in the future with their own gold. they are the largest gold producers now. medvedev was showing off a gold coin at at G20 (or whatever) very recently. these are small hints like "get ready for gold". could be.
